A potter from Fes
The central Moroccan City of Fes is renown for its beautiful and intricately designed glazed pottery. In the early Middle Ages, Muslim refugees from Andalusia brought the art of created glazed ceramics to Fes. Pottery is still made today using traditional techniques. Fes pottery is fired at a high temperature, making it stronger than pottery from other areas of the country. This man is throwing a ceramic lid on a potter’s wheel, kicking the wheel with his foot.
